- Program Description
Two hundred million years ago the supercontinent of Pangea began to break apart. India, Africa, Madagascar, and Australia all peeled away, eventually drifting to their present positions. Left behind was a tiny archipelago and its stranded lifeforms_the makings of what would become one of the most exotic environments on Earth. NOVA travels to the Seychelles, a Jurassic park of ancient plants and animals in the middle of the Indian Ocean, on Garden of Eden, airing Tuesday, November 28 at 9pm ET on PBS (check local listings). Bathed in turquoise waters 1,000 miles east of Kenya, the Seychelles are a paradise of unspoiled beauty and dazzling ecological diversity. Jacques Cousteau called its outermost islands "one of the last sanctuaries on the planet that man has not yet defiled."
