- Program Description
In 1987, NOVA selected seven students from the entering class at Harvard Medical School to follow throughout their medical training. These students are all high achievers but will experience more than an academic challenge, it will be an intense emotional rite of passage. In addition, they will be guinea pigs in a radically changed curriculum called "The New Pathway", a new approach to teaching that cuts back on lectures and allows them to learn clinical skills without waiting the traditional two years. Neil Patrick Harris (star of ABC's "Doogie Howser, M.D.") hosts. NOTE: This program follows NOVA episode #1521: "Can We Make a Better Doctor," aired 12/88 and precedes #2207 "The Making of a Doctor," aired 5/95.
