Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. Program Description

Hazel and James, taking Rose and Edward with them, go for a weekend visit to a country estate. It is Hazel's first visit to the hunt, and Edward's as well; each of them learns the arcane ways of the country house weekend and of the hunt, one of the first lessons being that some of the most serious hunting takes place not in the fields but in the bedrooms.
