Broadcast: Oct. 22- 29, 1989 The serenity of the Shropshire landscape is in marked contrast to the harsh life of the farming families who inhabit it. The story of a disfigured young woman whose true inner beauty finally brings her happiness. Prue Sarn, cursed with a hare lip, resigns herself to spinsterhood and pledges her life to her brother Gideon, who plans to farm the family land and grow rich. The local witch doctor and superstitious villagers gang up on Prue and her brother. Itinerant weaver Kester, the object of Prue's shy admiration, returns to find her on trial for witchcraft.
