Elliot Norton interviews Irish actor Shay Duffin about his one-man show Brendan Behan at the Charles Playhouse. The real Brendan Behan was a playwright and novelist known for his drunken and crude behavior as well as his wit. Duffin talks about Behan’s life, including his childhood in the slums. Behan, who was fifteen years older than Duffin, was relocated to the suburbs, close to where Duffin himself lived, and worked as a house painter. Duffin talks about Behan’s experience at 16 working with the IRA, his multiple stints in jail and his alcoholism.
