Host Roger Swain issues a call for entries for the "1996 VICTORY GARDEN Great Tomato Contest" and offers tips on cultivating winning tomato seedlings. Viewers whose yards suffered from the drought of '95 will also want to tune into this episode, as guest expert Roger Cook and host Roger Swain discuss innovative new ways to revitalize a lawn. Later, Swain offers a primer on growing delicious raspberries and grapes in the backyard. Chef Marian Morash prepares a warming parsnip chowder with smoked cod.
