Program Description

Helen Mirren returns as Jane Tennison in a tough story set in the gritty Manchester underworld. Having been "demoted" and transferred to the north, Tennison finds herself underused until her immediate boss, Ballinger (John McArdle), puts her on what at first appears to be a gang-warfare, drug- related murder case. Tennison is nonplussed when a 12-year-old boy confesses to the killing. Did he really do it? How is the drug baron known as "The Street" involved? Why do the gangs have as much information as the police? And who is the prime suspect?
