Program premiered in 1971 with The First Churchills. Hosted by Alastair Cooke. Intended as a showcase for the best of British television drama. Spawned MYSTERY! in 1980. Program Description

Perdita Brett asks David Green to become her agent and to help her find work as an actress. Charles wants to mount another play for himself and Lydia, but Edwin thinks it would be too expensive and proposes that they turn three of their theaters into cinemas; Charles won't even consider the proposal. Martha and Edwin go to the the Black Spot Club and run into trouble caused by a jealous girlfriend.
