WGBH Forum Network; State of Women and Girls, The

01/25/2006

The State of Women and Girls A community event planned to counter the traditional State of the State and City messages by public officials, in which the plight of women and girls is largely ignored. This event is organized by a collaborative group of over 15 community organizations working closely with the Boston Women's Fund. The forum shows that the impact of the state budget cuts places an unequal share of the burden upon women and children in the areas of healthcare, violence, poverty, reproductive rights, childcare, housing, education and immigration issues.
