Master carpenter Norm Abram (of "This Old House" renown) shows viewers how to build an elegant, affordable and durable collection of furniture at home. Each week, Norm will offer complete step-by-step instructions for a single woodworking project, taking home woodworkers through the entire process of building a piece of furniture--from buying the materials to applying a final coat of finish.

HOST NORM ABRAM VISITS THE HANCOCK SHAKER VILLAGE IN MASSACHUSETTS TO SEE ONE OF ONLY SIX SURVIVING WALL CLOCKS BUILT BY SHAKER CRAFTSMAN ISAAC YOUNG. NORM'S VERSION OF THE CLOCK IMPROVES ON THE PAST WITH THE USE OF A QUARTZ TIMEPIECE THAT COSTS ONLY FIVE DOLLARS. MADE FROM HANDSOME WALNUT, IT IS A SMALL, ELEGANT PIECE THAT FITS INTO ANY DECOR.
