This series is based on the characters created by Scots author A. J. Cronin in "Dr. Finlay's Casebooks," a series which ran in the 1960's on the BBC. Episodes in the second series are as follows: "A Delicate Balance" - Life at Arden House proves ever more chaotic with Janet's marriage casting a shadow on the future. Dr. Neil begins to doubt his abilities and Dr. Finlay suspects a natural death could in fact be murder. 2408 "Child's Play" - Young Hannah seems to be acting as the perfect mother to her two younger sisters. However, Dr. Finlay feels concerned for the girls' welfare when Hannah becomes defensive about why her mother isn't looking after the family herself. 2409 "Stolen Lives"- Rachel Gant has been committed to an asylum for the past 38 years. Upon her father's death, her mother sees to her release, only to discover the dark secrets that have been locked away. 2410 "Burning Bridges" - The redecoration of Arden House turns out not nearly as lavish as Dr. Finlay had hoped. 2411 "Secrecy" - In the middle of an emergency at a remote farmhouse, Dr. Finlay turns to a mysterious neighbor for help but is completely ignored. He tries to find out why the man was so rude, and uncovers a macabre secret. 2412 "In Arcadia" - Preparations and celebrations for Janet and Angus' wedding are under way and eventually, Dr. Cameron gives the bride away.
