- Series Description
Developed in partnership with WGBH Visions, Voices, Views brings further depth and vitality to Prentice Hall's World History: Connections to Today. It reveals to students the sights and sounds that people living in earlier times would have experienced. And most important, it shows, with an immediacy unmatched in print, the living connection between the past and the present.
Visions, Voices, Views consists of 34 video segments grouped into eight major units of study. Each unit features: Scenes of an Age: lively, informative montages that present an overview of the information covered in each unit of World History: Connections to Today. Video, sound, still images, graphics and maps summarize key points. Daily Life Close Up features illustrate elements of daily life touched upon in each unit through viewing authentic prints and listening to poetry and literature from the periods. Animated Map Story features take the viewer to the heart of historical events by placing a drama within its geographical setting. Stories are illustrated by historical images, footage and animation sequences. The Global Issues Forum explores timeless and compelling issues through an examination to that issue's contemporary impact. The Image Bank provides a rich repository of hundreds of still images. The full bank appears on each side of the videodiscs or a thematic image bank is available. Series release date: 1997
