Program Description

Program is hosted by Sharon Stevens, and features a rebroadcast of the WNET film “El Salvador: Another Vietnam” which had originally aired two months prior. After re-showing the film, Stevens hosts a three person in-studio panel of experts to discuss the issue. Panelists are: Professor W. Scott Thompson, Fletcher School of Diplomacy, Tufts University, and former advisor to President Ronald Reagan; Mauricio Silva, former El Salvador official; and Stephen Kinzer, columnist for The Boston Globe. The update program aired just as President Reagan increased the amount of money and military support to the right-wing government of El Salvador fighting a war with leftist rebels. 1981.
