Jemma Redgrave returns as Dr. Eleanor Bramwell. David Calder plays her father, Dr. Robert Bramwell. When Lady Cora's pregnant laundry maid is rushed to the Thrift with labor pains, nobody realizes that she will lead them into the criminal underworld. Eleanor's conservative Victorian outlook is jolted when she realizes Lady Cora's maid is married to a black African - a man who is on the run and wants to take his family away with him. Eleanor is torn between helping them and staying on the right side of the law.
