- Program Description
Late one afternoon in May, 1993, on a bridge in Sarajevo, a young man and woman died in each other's arms, shot down by snipers in the hills overlooking the besieged city. He was 24-year-old Bosko Brckic, a Serb; she was 25-year-old Admira Ismic, a Muslim. They were trying to escape the war and marry. After learning that he was Serbian and she was Muslim, the inter- national press named the couple "Romeo and Juliet." On the one-year anniversary of their deaths, as the tragic struggle over former Yugoslavia continues, this program tells the story of this couple's life and how they tried to build a future together in the midst of war and in defiance of the centuries- old Balkan conflict.
