Series Description

Boston theatre critic Elliot Norton interviews prominent actors, directors and producers on their craft. (Aired from October, 1958 to 1982. Winner of both Peabody and Tony Awards.) Series release date: 1958

Program Description

Elliot Norton interviews playwright Robert Auletta and actors Marianne Owen and Stephen Rowe from the world premiere production of “Rundown” by the American Repertory Theater, now at the Hasty Pudding Theater in Cambridge, MA. In this play, Frank Payovski (Rowe), a Vietnam veteran has a difficult time dealing with the past as he moves from his flat in New York City to his mother’s place in Brooklyn, where he is forced to face people from his childhood while attempting to get out the sounds of war out of his consciousness. His former girlfriend (Owen) fails at trying to cheer him up with love. The play is a mixture of ‘real life’ and fantasy, realism and surrealism.

Director: Joanna Lu. Taped 4/16/1982.
