- Program Description
Although most recently noted for being passed-over for the chancellor position at the University of Massachusetts (Boston), J. Keith Motley has long been a champion of the role of the urban university. In an interview with Motley, Basic Black’s guest host Howard Manly explores the responsibility and connection of an urban university like UMass Boston to the larger community. Manly also discusses with Motley the particular challenges that face students of color, most of whom represent the diversity of the region’s work force after graduation.
