Program Description

Broadcast in 1994 Chief Inspector Jane Tennison has been transferred from Southampton Row to Soho's vice squad. On her first day of duty, the body of a young male prostitute is found at the scene of a fire. The investigation takes Tennison and her team into a dark and heartbreaking world where power is routinely abused, innocence is betrayed and life is cheap. Tennison meets up with her old adversary, sergeant Bill Otley, who is now working in Soho as well. Tennison begins to suspect a cover-up and her suspicions are confirmed. For the first time ever, she has to fight to keep control of the investigation as it becomes increasingly clear that her superiors have their own agenda.
