In 1983, Paul Vander-Molen and an international team seek to traverse this land of 'fire and ice' by an untried route--across the 50-mile wide Vatnajokull Glacier and down the previously unnavigated Jokulsa River, directly from the Atlantic to the Arctic Ocean.
