Program Description

1404, 1/25/2010: ANTIQUES ROADSHOW touches down in Atlantic City, then detours to the Wheaton Arts Center in Millville, New Jersey, where appraiser Arlie Sulka looks at some beautiful old American paperweights and host Mark L. Walberg tries his hand at glass blowing. Highlights include a Walt Whitman memoir inscribed by the author to a group of firefighters; a late 19th-century bronze and marble statue by the acclaimed French sculptor Albert Ernest Carrier Belleuse; and an oil painting by acclaimed 19th-century Canadian artist Cornelius Krieghoff, noted for portraying narrative-like scenes, valued at $200,000 to $350,000. Additional appraisals include: Pennsylvania Queen Anne Miniature Chest on Stand, ca. 1750 Appraised Value:$5,000 - $8,000; Buffalo Bill & Pawnee Bill Wild West Posters Appraised Value: $7,500 - $11,000; Portraits Attributed to Ruth Henshaw Bascom, ca. 1830 Appraised Value: $20,000 - $30,000; 16th-Century Tibetan Carved Iron Box Appraised Value: $10,000; Navajo "Squash Blossom" Necklace, ca. 1910 Appraised Value: $4,000 - $6,000.

1405, 2/1/2010: Part 2 of 3 in Atlantic City features Enrico Caruso memorabilia, a dress by Italian designer Fortuny that's said to have been worn by dance legend Isadora Duncan and a pair of heirloom boxwood and ivory figurines that may be worth $400,000. Additional appraisals include: Meeks Rococo Revival "Stanton Hall" Sofa, ca. 1860 Appraised Value: $15,000; Vietnamese Rhino Horn Presentation Cup, ca. 1850 Appraised Value: $8,000 - $12,000; Alberto Pasini Oil Painting, ca. 1880 Appraised Value: $30,000 - $50,000; Navajo Germantown "Eye Dazzler" Blanket, ca. 1885 Appraised Value: $20,000 - $30,000; Wide Art Deco Bracelet with Diamond, Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Charms, ca.1939 Appraised Value: $30,000 - $40,000.
