Series Description

18 half hour radio dramatic readings which aired Monday through Fridays beginning April 9, 1979. Especially planned to give blind, print handicapped, and elderly listeners the opportunity to participate in the Scarlet Letter experience. A talented cast of professional actors read the entire text with production enhanced by original music, sound effects, and sophisticated engineering techniques. All 18 readings are narrated by Kevin Conway who played Roger Chillingworth in the television production. Deborah Solomon read Hester Prynne; Christopher Curry portrays her husband Roger Chillingworth; Frank Licato is the Rev. Arthur Dimmesdale, Lisa MacMillan reads Hester’s daughter, Pearl, and John Polito plays the Rev. Wilson.
