Note to You, A; Rebecca Clarke
01/09/2000
She played the viola beautifully. In fact, when she joined the Queen’s Hall Orchestra in London in 1912, she became one of the first women to play professionally in a symphony orchestra. But these days, we think of Rebecca Clarke as a writer of beautiful music in the style of the English impressionists. Clarke scholar Liane Curtis joins Virginia Eskin to reflect on the life and music of this unique composer.
