Series Description

Radio series. Series release date: 1966

Program Description

Recently WGBH radio reporters traveled by boat from New Bedford to the Island of Cuttyhunk to record the Gosnold Town Meeting, one of the most colorful in all New England. Forty-one of the 52 eligible voters showed up to vote appropriations for the town’s eight-grade school (a school that has only three students) and to debate the destiny of the privately-owned water supply which the town would like to buy, but not at the owner’s price. It’s an exciting demonstration of democracy in action.
