- Program Description
Address given by Harry Ashmore of The Center For The Study of Democratic Institutions, Santa Barbara, CA, to the founding members of the organization regarding his meeting (January 1967) with Ho Chi Minh in North Vietnam. Ashmore and two colleagues had recently traveled to meet with Ho Chi Minh in an effort to secure his participation in a international peace conference similar to the conference the Center had convened in 1965. The goal of the conference was to seek alternate, international, means of bringing about peace in Vietnam outside of the usual diplomatic channels, which to this point, had been overwhelmingly unsuccessful. Program is introduced by Hallock Huffman
